Teeth Whitening and Your Success

Teeth whitening has become a craze of late, with lots of people looking for ways to get that perfect politician's smile. Few of our patients have considered whether having that beautiful smile can actually give you an edge when it comes to real life. In the world today, having an edge is important, the question is can teeth whitening give you what you need. Our ancestors certainly thought so, which is why they spared no expense in getting their teeth whitened. From today’s perspective, however, there are two arenas that everyone wants to get ahead in. These are professionally and socially. So we looked at some of the studies that have been done in both of these and found some amazing positive results. According to the studies, people with whiter teeth did better in the professional world regardless of whether it was landing a job or getting a raise and promotion. When it came to landing that dream job, people with whiter teeth were 58% more successful than their competition, while 53% of people with whiter teeth had an increased chance of getting offered a promotion or a raise. In the social spectrum, we discovered that 71% of women surveyed judged a man by his teeth at first blush, giving an undisputed edge to men who take the time to get their teeth whitening done.
Now that we know teeth whitening, statistically speaking, gives you a distinct advantage in the world, it is important to know how to maintain this status quo. We have found that many of the people who come in for their teeth whitening already take a more holistic approach to their overall health, something that improves as they look after their teeth better. From a practical standpoint, after you have had your teeth whitening done, you will want to make certain choices that maintain this look. The improved choices you make, are also healthier for you in the long run and start a more holistic approach to oral, and overall health.
Keeping your teeth white means making healthier choices.
A perfect example of this is the choices people make when deciding what to drink. There is no doubt that drinking water is better for you but typically half of all American’s will drink at least one glass of soda every day. This means that there is better than a 48% chance that you would reach for a soda with lunch. On the other hand, we know that soda contains a great deal of chemical coloring, which when it interacts with your newly whitened teeth could cause staining. Over time, these stains will completely undo your teeth whitening and you will have to come back in for another treatment. Many of our patients decide that it is easier to avoid having the teeth stained and start to avoid excessive use of cola products. While this is great for your teeth, it is even better for your overall health as you cut out the sugar, aspartame, and caffeine out of your diet. Choosing water is not only better for your teeth’s whiteness lasting longer, it is also healthier.
